How to format S60 phone and restore original phone settings

It may happen that a program corrupts the C: drive of your phone. In this case some data can be lost or some applications may not work or work partially.

There exist two key sequences to reset your phone:

Normal reset (*#7780#) – restores preserving user data
Deep reset (*#7370#) – completely reformats the C: drive; all applications and files stored on this drive will be lost, clean default files will be rewritten

Formatting1

In both cases the phone will ask you for confirmation and you will have to enter security code (12345 by default).

The process of formatting takes some time. It is strongly recommended to do it with fully charged battery or even your phone connected to a charger to ensure that your battery doesn’t run out of power in the middle of formatting.
